Winning Ways and the Adorable Pair Who Stole Everyone’s Hearts

30 April proved to be a busy day, both for Singapore Turf Club (STC) and Singapore Turf Club Riding Centre (STCRC).

STC was abuzz with activity as the Club finally reopened its races to the public after two long years, with some 3,000 spectators entering our doors for an exhilarating day of live horseracing action.

STCRC too was pulsing with excitement, as it welcomed riders and spectators to the STCRC Aprílios/Máios Dressage Show, the first of a series of Interclub shows it is organising.

Over 70 hopeful riders from across Singapore’s equestrian schools turned up to showcase their art. Indeed, dressage is a form of art, described as the highest expression of horse training. As an exhibition or competition, it aims to develop a horse’s natural athletic ability and willingness to perform and thereby maximising its potential as a riding horse.

Camaraderie and the competitive spirit of Singapore’s equestrian community came alive as the indoor and outdoor arenas at STCRC played host to the beautiful natural movements brought to life by the bonds between riders and horses.

Kicking off the day’s show was a beautiful freestyle dressage performance by STCRC’s very own Audrey Njoto, who took first place in the Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI) Intermediate 1 Freestyle category. The only show in Singapore to have a dressage freestyle event across all categories of competition, participants created their own dressage choreography, accompanied by music.
