SINGAPORE, 11 SEPTEMBER 2019 – Singapore Turf Club’s inaugural Books and Toys Donation Drive raised $30,000 and collected 2,100 books and toys for children and youths from Beyond Social Services. The donation amount was raised through the sale of Singapore Turf Club merchandise on 25 and 26 July and matched dollar-for-dollar by the Club.
As part of the Club’s CSR programme - “Warming Hearts with a Difference”, the donation drive was strongly supported by the Club’s management and staff, horse owners, trainers, as well as staff of Tote Board and Singapore Pools (Private) Limited.
Singapore Turf Club’s President and Chief Executive, Mr Chong Boo Ching shared, “Our connection with the community, to foster meaningful interactions and contributions, is an important part of who we are. We are glad that our efforts will make a positive and sustained impact on youths and children from Beyond Social Services. We look forward to a continued partnership with Beyond Social Services and other like-minded organisations to provide opportunities and support for needful children and youths.”
The donations were presented to Beyond Social Services during a get-together at the Singapore Turf Club Riding Centre for 30 children and youths. Activities like horse patting, craft and refreshments were provided to lend to the air of revelry.
“The gifts from Singapore Turf Club will bring many smiles to the children we support but more importantly, is the thought that we should always be more accepting and supportive of the disadvantaged, which I am heartened to note is the ethos of Singapore Turf Club,” said Mr Gerard Ee, Executive Director.
The Books and Toys Donation Drive is part of the Club’s continuous CSR effort to give back to society. In the past years, the Club has supported Deaf Sports Association, Guide Dogs Singapore, RDA (Riding for the Disabled Association) Singapore and Singapore Children’s Society, among others.
